Daito - Ready Player One

Ready Player One Movie is around the corner and we have the FIRST DECENT SHOT of my samurai character Daito! I so enjoyed designing and modeling this guy with production designer Adam Stockhausen and VFX Art Director Alexander Jaeger, lacing an incredible amount of subtext and backstory into his avatar!

With my upbringing steeped in manga, anime and Japanese culture, (and more recently, shooting in Nagasaki and taking Harvard/MIT's 'Visualizing Japan 1850s-1930s' course), I couldn't have been better cast to take on this challenge, and I am so glad I did!

Let the spirit of legendary actor Toshiro Mifune flow through you!

I hope you all go and enjoy the movie next week and take some of the deeper meanings (such as net neutrality and real human interaction) back with you into the real world! - B
